About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Instructor to join our team at Harper College. As a Clinical Instructor, you will play a vital role in the education and training of our Surgical Technology students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assign cases to students and communicate with the OR Educator/Charge Nurse to determine student placement.
  • Monitor student progress throughout the clinical rotation, conducting weekly site visits or at the direction of the clinical site.
  • Provide timely feedback to students on their performance, offering suggestions for improvement.
  • Meet regularly with the Program/Clinical Coordinator to maintain productive two-way communication between the program and Operating Room personnel.
  • Discuss student evaluations with each student's preceptor(s) and prepare a Clinical Evaluation Form documenting student progress.
  • Participate in continuing education seminars and professional development opportunities to maintain current state-of-the-art knowledge and skills.
Requirements
  • Certified Surgical Technologist credential.
  • Minimum two years of experience in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology within the past five years.
  • National certification in surgical technology through a program accredited by the National Commission of Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
  • Good interpersonal skills in relating to students, clinical personnel, and physicians.
