Campground Host

Job Summary

The Campground Host position is a key role in providing a quality recreational experience for visitors within areas operated by Vista Recreation. The primary objective is to implement operational tasks required within their assigned campground or area.

Key Responsibilities

• Customer Service
  • Provide excellent customer service by educating the public on the rules and regulations of the recreation area.
  • Demonstrate courteousness and display a helpful attitude to all visitors.
• Administrative Tasks
  • Perform basic recordkeeping and fee collection.
  • Process revenues and fee collection data using Company approved forms and procedures.
• Maintenance and Cleaning
  • Maintain facilities and grounds, including cleaning, sanitizing and stocking of restrooms, emptying trash containers and replacing the liners.
  • Clean roadways and trails, campsites, picnic tables, fire rings, grills, and dispose of ashes.
  • Rake and groom sites and public areas, maintain a litter-free facility, and pick up micro-trash such as bottle caps and cigarette butts.
• Communication and Teamwork
  • Maintain a good working relationship with fellow employees, governmental agency representatives, and the visiting public.
  • Register campers, collect fees, and sell certain retail items such as firewood, ice, and concession goods.
• Problem Solving and Reporting
  • Report problems and any unsafe or hazardous conditions as they are discovered.

Requirements

• Customer Service Skills
  • Strong customer service skills; enjoys working in an environment of extensive public contact.
• Physical Abilities
  • Basic manual labor abilities, including an ability and willingness to clean and sanitize facilities with a variety of cleaning agents and chemicals.
  • Able to lift 20 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • The ability to move safely over rough and uneven terrain.
  • The ability to work in extreme weather.
• Communication and Recordkeeping
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Basic recordkeeping experience, including money handling.
• Flexibility and Adaptability
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and be able to learn quickly and follow instructions accurately.
  • Willing to work a flexible work schedule, including regular evenings, weekends and holidays.
