Building Mechanic

We are seeking a skilled Building Mechanic to join our team at FirstEnergy. As a Building Mechanic, you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and other building systems at various locations.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical and HVAC systems, with a focus on safety and teamwork. You will work independently and as part of a team to ensure building assets are maintained to achieve maximum useful life and safe operation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in all Company safety programs and practices
- Perform work assignments including breakdown maintenance, corrective maintenance, preventative maintenance, room set-ups, service requests, and jurisdictional inspections
- Coordinate and administer the HVAC preventative and corrective maintenance program at FE facilities
- Work independently or with others to perform HVAC maintenance, review contractor corrective maintenance proposals, and perform corrective maintenance when appropriate
- Install and maintain plumbing, piping, and fixtures for heating, water supply, sprinkler, and water systems
- Monitor daily operation of energy management systems at specified facilities
- Install electrical wiring and equipment of lighting, power supply, and complex control systems
- Perform regular scheduled preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment
- Reclaim refrigerants and maintain records in accordance with EPA standards
- Monitor HVAC system performance, recommend system changes, and assist in developing specifications and evaluating options for HVAC projects
- Working knowledge of large HVAC systems, including chillers, AHU's, CRAC units, and commercial humidification systems
- Install and remove mobile and permanent partitions, frames openings, and hang doors and sash
- Construct, repair, refinish, and install complex woodworking projects
- Ensure change management protocols are followed
- Must be able to work shift work and overtime as assigned
- Respond to support operational and emergency situations 24/7
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required
- Minimum five (5) years' work experience as an electrician, plumber, or HVAC technician required, trade certifications preferred
- Possess CFC, National Electric Code, and Fork Truck Certifications preferred
- Must have a valid driver's license and be willing and able to travel within the regional service territory
- Must be able to read and work from blueprints
- Must be physically capable of lifting up to 75 pounds and carrying up to 50 pounds
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) and interact with facility management software programs
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate information on equipment and systems
- Demonstrate the ability to plan, coordinate, and lead a job from start to finish
