Assistant Preschool Teacher

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Assistant Preschool Teacher to join our team at Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania. As a key member of our early childhood education program, you will play a vital role in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for our young learners.
Job SummaryThe Assistant Preschool Teacher will assist the lead preschool teacher in implementing educational programming, ensuring the safety and well-being of all program participants, and building positive relationships with children, families, and staff. This role requires a strong commitment to child development, creativity, and teamwork.
Responsibilities- Assist in planning and implementing educational activities, including arts, STEM, gross motor, fine motor, social skill development, verbal skill development, and cognitive development.
- Ensure a safe and nurturing environment, supervising children at all times and responding to their needs.
- Conduct initial screening assessments for new students and maintain accurate records.
- Collaborate with volunteers, tutors, and students to enhance education and improve outcomes.
- Develop and implement Developmentally Appropriate Activities (DAAs) on a weekly basis and communicate with families.
- Provide a stimulating environment that promotes creativity, exploration, and learning.
- Report any maintenance or operation concerns to the Clubhouse director to ensure Club member safety.
- Maintain positive youth-to-staff interactions through active supervision and role-modeling.
- Participate in annual training sessions to meet DHS and BGCA requirements.
- Attend organizational meetings as requested, even outside of regular working hours.
- Contribute to a positive team environment that values diversity, professionalism, and respect.
- A minimum of an associate's degree in education from an accredited college or university, with 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field, and 3 years of experience working with children.
- The ability to build strong relationships with children and families in a short period.
- An interest in a variety of youth programs, including technology, art, sports, STEM, mentoring, and recreation.
- Advanced customer service skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Must complete a health physical and TB test, and obtain clearances (Act 33, Act 34, Act 151, and NSOR letter).
- Mandated Reporter Certification within 45 days of hire.
- Ability to attend a minimum of 12 hours of training per year and complete CPR and Pediatric First Aid training within the first 90 days of hire.
- Strong time management, organization, and project prioritization skills.
- Proficiency in Google Suite.
CPR, Pediatric First Aid, Child Abuse, Criminal History, FBI clearance, NSOR certificate, PA Disclosure, and Mandated Reporter certification are required upon hire or within 6 months. A PA Staff Health Assessment and TB Test must be submitted upon hire and before the start date.
