Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Buyer to join our team at Rolls-Royce Solutions America. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for negotiating and purchasing commodities, managing cross-functional projects, and developing strategic sourcing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process purchasing award summaries and purchasing documents for suppliers related to production and aftersales.
  • Assist in the development of International Commodity Team strategies that align with Global/Regional Purchasing and Logistics Objectives.
  • Manage cross-functional projects on time and within budget.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and annual contracts with suppliers, focusing on supplier tooling, fixturing, etc.
  • Evaluate and select new suppliers based on common practices and negotiated agreements focused on price, quality, delivery, and other required services.
  • Aggressively resolve all pricing, invoicing, and contract-related issues with suppliers.
  • Develop sourcing lists and monitor supplier performance.
  • Forecast annual material, tooling, and repair budget.
  • Support the development of interns, co-ops, and new hires.
  • Support the implementation of a standardized process approach utilizing common forms, measurements, and structure.
  • Create alternatives and options for purchasing issues.
  • Support cost savings initiatives.
  • Maintain open communication between internal departments, management, and suppliers.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices.
  • Keep management abreast of work, pending issues, and problems.
  • Promote a compliance culture in the area of responsibility and live the letter and spirit of the Rolls-Royce Integrity Code.
  • Perform special projects as required.
Work Environment

This position requires a flexible office environment with a traditional work schedule. The employee will be required to work on a computer and occasionally in environmental conditions with fumes and dust. The employee will be regularly requested to sit and frequently requested to walk within the work environment.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Materials Management, or Business Finance, and 3 years of procurement, materials management, supplier cost analysis, or supply chain management experience; or 7 years of experience in procurement, materials management, supplier cost analysis, or supply chain management.
  • Strong knowledge of casting and forging tooling and fixturing.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience handling confidential sensitive matters with discretion.
  • Strong working knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Strong financial/cost analysis and problem-solving skills when issues are very complex.
  • Strong knowledge of production planning, supply chain, and/or materials management processes.
  • Strong global knowledge of suppliers and international/domestic activities.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills.
  • Strong oral, written, and presentation communication skills, and the ability to understand the needs of the internal customer.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with others.
  • Strong ability to interpret blueprints and engineering documents.
  • Strong ability to learn commodity processes at supplier locations.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently with little direction.
  • Ability to travel - domestic and international and work flexible hours.
  • Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite (ex. Excel).
