School Crossing Guard Position

The City of Lake Forest, IL is seeking a reliable individual to serve as a School Crossing Guard during the school year.

Under the supervision of the Police Administrative Commander, the School Crossing Guard will ensure the safe movement of children to and from school when crossing public roadways and intersections.

This is a part-time position with flexible scheduling.

The Crossing Guard will be responsible for:

  • Assembling children and other pedestrians behind curb lines awaiting traffic lulls or signal changes
  • Stopping traffic and escorting pedestrians into the street allowing them to cross safely
  • Instructing children in proper procedures for safe street crossing

The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and community relations skills, ability to work independently under minimal supervision, and have access to reliable transportation.

Benefits include $587.00 paid biweekly and 1 hour of vacation time for every 40 hours worked.
