This position will support a Government agency within the homeland security sector, with opportunities to extend support to other national security-related entities. Specific tasks and deliverables for this role include:

  • Evaluating general ledger data to ascertain audit readiness and compliance with established posting logic, focusing on transactions related to accounting for Property, Plant, and Equipment (PP&E).
  • Assisting in internal controls over financial reporting (ICOFR) in accordance with OMB Circular A-123 across various financial and business process domains, including Property, Plant, and Equipment (PP&E).
  • Offering technical guidance for the creation and maintenance of accounting entries that accurately reflect internal use software, equipment, leases, prepaid expenses, and leasehold improvements.
  • Aiding in the response to external financial statement audit requests and inquiries, including comprehensive walkthroughs of business processes, ad hoc meetings, and coordinating the preparation of requested documentation.
  • Supporting the formulation and execution of corrective action plans and broader remediation strategies aimed at addressing internal control and audit deficiencies while enhancing financial processes.
  • Delivering a wide range of financial statement audit and audit risk management support that aligns with the agency's objectives to uphold a clean audit opinion and bolster internal controls.
  • Assessing the implications of new guidance on financial operations and assisting in the implementation of such guidance as necessary.
  • Providing audit readiness support services to facilitate a seamless financial statement audit process, including the development and maintenance of digital tools to enhance operational efficiency.
  • More broadly, this team member will engage in diverse project-specific tasks that encompass a wide array of consulting capabilities, including:
    • Applying various analytical, problem-solving, and reporting techniques.
    • Documenting and assessing business processes while recommending improvements.
    • Producing a range of communications from informal client interactions to formal memos, presentations, and executive briefings.
    • Conducting research to explore client challenges and collaborating with the team to propose and implement solutions.
    • Assisting clients in evaluating projects and programs to identify risks and developing, applying, and monitoring mitigation strategies.
    • Supporting clients in data collection and analysis, creating models and visualizations, and deriving insights to enhance decision-making.
    • Analyzing and improving policies and procedures for various programs and operational requirements.
  • In addition to client-facing duties, this role will contribute to vital activities that foster business growth, strengthen internal operations, and cultivate a positive work environment for all employees. These activities may include but are not limited to:
    • Supporting business development efforts by identifying potential client needs and proposing how our firm can assist, developing proposals, and participating in client and internal meetings.
    • Engaging in programs for coaching and mentoring staff.
    • Assisting in the creation of training materials, courses, and presentations to help employees enhance their skills.
    • Supporting initiatives aimed at attracting top talent to the organization.

Qualifications:

  • US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a federal Public Trust.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in financial management, accounting, internal controls, or financial statement auditing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated expertise in advising federal clients on financial reporting and compliance with federal guidance, including OMB Circular A-136, GAO Green Book, and other relevant regulations.
  • Proven ability to generate accurate financial reports and implement innovative solutions to adapt to evolving organizational needs.
  • Experience in federal audit support, audit liaison, corrective action planning, and remediation with a focus on internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting and understanding of Federal financial accounting standards.
  • Familiarity with Federal financial management, accounting, and budgetary processes.
