Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Public Health Nurse to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a Public Health Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing professional nursing care to patients in various settings, including clinics, homes, and schools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive nursing assessments and develop individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of patients.
  • Administer medications, perform lab tests, and take measurements as needed.
  • Participate in public health emergencies and community health assessments to identify and address health disparities.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement effective care plans.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensure seamless care coordination.
Requirements
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Virginia or a compact state.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve shared goals.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
  • Knowledge of public health concepts, principles of public health nursing, and epidemiology.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Additional study in health promotion or public health.
  • Experience working in a public health setting or related field.
