Position Overview:
As a Senior Automation / Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a crucial role in validating and scaling our operations and products. Your responsibilities will encompass equipment specification, commissioning, and the optimization of process parameters. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, external vendors, and technology partners to advance process development from initial concepts to product launch.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement equipment control solutions for battery manufacturing initiatives, including:
- Design and architecture of automated systems such as storage solutions, robotics, and conveyance systems.
- Oversee programming and commissioning of hardware and robotics, ensuring adherence to project standards.
2. Lead improvement projects on existing automated production lines and establish high-volume production processes for critical subsystems.
3. Support operations and guide maintenance teams in routine production tasks, while spearheading continuous improvement initiatives, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting efforts.
4. Design and prototype new assembly processes, providing comprehensive documentation.
5. Conduct engineering calculations related to cycle time, material strength, and operational parameters for machinery and tools.
6. Analyze engineering specifications to develop equipment that meets process and product requirements.
7. Collaborate with Quality and Testing teams to ensure a robust and cost-effective manufacturing process.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess a strong hands-on approach, analytical mindset, and exceptional organizational skills. A passion for learning and a commitment to excellence are essential.
Required experience includes:
- 5+ years in designing and supporting manufacturing automation solutions.
- Proficiency in drafting principles and software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Minimum of 3 years in automation design within a machine integration context.
- Experience with fully automated assembly lines, root cause analysis, and process control.
- Familiarity with PLC systems, HMIs, and robotics in a manufacturing setting.
- Knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical control systems.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Six Sigma methodologies.
