Job Overview

This position oversees the procurement process and ensures MCNC is strategically positioned as it grows. The successful candidate will nurture relationships with suppliers, effectively manage supply costs and optimize workflows to achieve company-wide goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supplier Management:
    • IDentify and evaluate suppliers based on cost, quality, reliability and service
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers
    • Negotiate favorable terms and pricing
  • Cost Management:
    • Implement strategies to reduce purchasing costs, including bulk purchases, strategic sourcing and long-term agreements
    • Regularly assess market prices to ensure competitive pricing
  • Process Optimization:
    • Continuous monitoring and implementation of procurement processes to improve efficiency and reduce lead times
    • Maximize use of current ERP system and identify other complementary applications to improve efficiency
  • Team Management:
    • Provide leadership and cultivate growth opportunities for one purchasing clerk
  • Reporting:
    • Develop and track key performance indicators related to cost savings and supplier performance
    • Prepare and regularly report on purchasing activities, including spend analysis, cost savings and supplier performance
  • Inventory Management:
    • Maintain appropriate inventory levels without over/under stocking
    • Ensure timely delivery of critical materials to prevent delays in service deployment
  • Compliance and Risk Management:
    • Ensure grant-related purchases comply with federal, state and private procurement regulations
    • Monitor and manage risks in supply chain
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure products meet required technical specifications and performance standards
    • Regularly assess supplier performance against agreed-upon metrics
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • 5-10 years of progressive responsibility in purchasing, supply chain or a related field
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain or related field required
  • Minimum three years' experience in the broadband or telecommunication industry
  • Experience negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships
  • Experience in developing and executing procurement strategies that lead to cost savings, efficiency and effective sourcing
  • Experience managing budgets and conducting complex analyses to support decisions
Estimated Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 per year

The salary range reflects the level of experience, education, and skills required for this position. It also takes into account the location and industry standards. However, the actual salary may vary based on individual qualifications and negotiations.
