Heavy-Duty Diesel Equipment Mechanic Specialist

As a Heavy-Duty Diesel Equipment Mechanic Specialist, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing medium to heavy-duty trucks and trailers at Performance Foodservice. Your role involves performing preventative maintenance, completing overhauls of diesel engines, and training other mechanics to enhance their skills. Salary Information:
The estimated salary for this position is up to $33.00 per hour depending on experience. In addition, we are now offering a $10,000 sign-on bonus (terms apply).
Job Description:
Our Heavy-Duty Diesel Equipment Mechanic Specialist will diagnose and repair medium to heavy-duty trucks, trailers, reefer units, convertor dollies, and maintenance vehicles under minimal supervision. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Completing overhauls and rebuilds of heavy-duty diesel engines and transmission.
- Completing and performing preventative maintenance on minor repairs and standard component inspections/repairs of fleet diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, refrigeration units).
- Ensuring equipment has required licensing and registration prior to being deemed as "roadworthy".
- Inspecting brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure they are in proper operating condition which may require replacement of parts.
- Completing thorough documentation for work orders of repairs and preventative maintenance through the online Enterprise Asset Management system.
- Installing, replacing, and repairing onboard computers.
- Performing routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery requiring the use of hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists.
- Training/providing guidance to other Mechanics.
Qualification Requirements:
A High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent is required. Additionally, 5 - 7 years of proven medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair experience, including PM's, tire & wheel, air & air disc brakes, diagnosis, computerized diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, electronic component repair, and a minimum of 2 years' experience in refrigeration &/or overhauls and rebuilds of heavy-duty diesel engines and transmissions is necessary.
