POSITION OVERVIEW

This role is situated within the Mobile Turbine/Rotating Department and entails executing general mechanical maintenance on power generation equipment. The Mobile Turbine/Rotating team promotes a culture of continuous enhancement by engaging in training, upholding standards, reporting and addressing unsafe conditions, and utilizing the corrective action program. This position typically necessitates 80% travel.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Exhibit proficient maintenance skills on steam or gas turbines, turbine valves, reactor feed pump turbines (RFPT), terry turbines, various pumps, and balance of plant (BOP) equipment, ensuring safe and reliable operations using appropriate tools and equipment, including rigging, forklifts, and cranes.
  • Conduct maintenance and repair activities on plant machinery such as pumps, gearboxes, fans, turbines, bearings, boilers, piping systems, valves, and limit torque operators, employing sound technical judgment regarding the upkeep of complex mechanical systems.
  • Execute assigned tasks safely and efficiently under the guidance of Maintenance Management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on significant projects while adhering to maintenance protocols and established standards.
  • Implement work packages as assigned, consistent with the level of training received.
  • Coordinate activities with other plant personnel, workgroups, and vendors, including communication with station departments regarding equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Utilize, review, and suggest revisions to procedures, schematics, technical manuals, and other documentation as necessary, while also supporting the development of written troubleshooting plans to assess equipment malfunctions and repair strategies.
  • Interpret and comprehend power plant schematics.
  • Provide technical assistance to plant operations, maintenance personnel, and engineering teams, commensurate with the level of training received.
  • Perform alignment on rotating machinery and undertake fitting and welding tasks when qualified.
  • Conduct verification checks on maintenance items as outlined in maintenance technician training.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

For Maintenance Technician I: An Associate's Degree in Power Plant Technology, Engineering Technology, or Electronics, or a High School Diploma with a minimum of months of trade or technical experience in Power Plant Technology or a related field.

For Maintenance Technician II: An Associate's Degree in Power Plant Technology, Engineering Technology, or Electronics with at least 18 months of trade or technical training in Power Plant Technology, or 3 to 5 years of experience in Maintenance Tech I or equivalent experience with trade or technical training in Power Plant Technology or a relevant field.

For Maintenance Technician III: An Associate's Degree in Power Plant Technology, Engineering Technology, or Electronics with a minimum of 3 years of trade or technical training in Power Plant Technology, or 5 years of experience in Maintenance Tech II or equivalent experience with trade or technical training in Power Plant Technology or a relevant field. Previous supervisory experience is preferred.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior trade union experience (millwright or pipefitting).
  • Welding certifications.
  • Machinist experience.
