Job Title: Van Driver

Join the Upper Moreland Township School District team as a Van Driver and contribute to the safe and efficient transportation of students.

Job Summary:

As a Van Driver, you will be responsible for transporting students to and from school, ensuring their safety and well-being during transit. You will also be required to maintain the cleanliness of the van and report any mechanical issues or concerns to the proper authority.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Obeys all traffic laws and regulations, including those specific to school vehicles.
  • Maintains discipline among students on the bus and reports any disciplinary issues or concerns to the proper authority.
  • Ensures the van is clean and well-maintained, checking for mechanical defects before each operation.
  • Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
  • Discharges students only at authorized stops and exercises responsible leadership during out-of-district school trips.
  • Transports only authorized students and reports all accidents and completes required reports.
  • Enforces regulations against smoking and eating on the van.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma; preference given to those with a minimum of two years of college.
  • Valid current Pennsylvania state driver's license.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Working Conditions:

The Van Driver will work in a fast-paced environment, frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Clearances:

Candidate must adhere to all local, state, federal, and school code requirements for employment. The position holder must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
