Job Description

At MercyOne, we are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our orthopedic clinic team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our clinical staff.

Responsibilities:
  • Schedule and coordinate appointments, ensuring timely and efficient service delivery.
  • Manage patient information and medical histories, maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Process claims submissions, obtaining reimbursement for services rendered.
  • Perform procedural and diagnostic coding, adhering to industry standards.
  • Conduct inventory of supplies and equipment, maintaining a well-stocked and organized environment.
  • Maintain administrative and clinical equipment, ensuring proper functioning and safety.
Clinical Responsibilities:
  • Apply principles of aseptic technique and infection control, prioritizing patient safety.
  • Comply with established risk management and safety procedures, minimizing risks and promoting a safe work environment.
  • Screen and follow up patient test results, communicating effectively with patients and providers.
  • Collect and process specimens, maintaining accurate records and protocols.
  • Perform diagnostic tests, utilizing technical skills and knowledge.
  • Obtain patient history and vital signs, accurately recording and documenting information.
  • Prepare and maintain examination and treatment areas, ensuring cleanliness and organization.
  • Prepare and assist providers with patient exams, procedures, and treatments, demonstrating expertise and professionalism.
  • Prepare and administer medications and immunizations, following established protocols and guidelines.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Graduation from an accredited medical assisting program.
  • Passage of the Certification Examination of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA).
  • Maintenance of currency in CMA credential.
  • Previous experience as a CMA, with clinical setting experience preferred.
