Mammography Technologist Job Description

Cleveland Clinic Euclid Hospital is seeking a skilled Mammography Technologist to join our team. As a Mammography Technologist, you will be responsible for operating mammography equipment, positioning patients, and ensuring the quality of images obtained.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review mammography requisitions and computer exam forms to determine the type of exam required.
  • Position patients, determine exposure factors, and operate mammography equipment according to established procedures to obtain high-quality images.
  • Review processed images to determine quality and the need for additional images.
  • Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment, and the exam to ensure understanding and cooperation.
  • Ensure patients' safety and comfort during and after the exam.
  • Acquire, archive, transmit, and print images via CAD and PACS.
  • Complete after-hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork.
  • Report any malfunctions to the help desk and PACS Administrator.
  • Process billing via RIS.
  • Assist with all policies and procedures required by local, state, and federal law, and with compliance or credentialing bodies (ACR, MQSA, Medicare, Medicaid, FDA, etc.).
  • Assist with instrument calibration and records to ensure compliance with quality assurance requirements.
  • Perform equipment checks to assure proper function of and notify clinical engineering of any equipment malfunctions.
  • Ensure exam rooms are adequately supplied with linen and related medical supplies.
  • Provide teaching and mentoring to new hires and students.
  • Strive to learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions.
  • Rotate through all diagnostic imaging modalities, sites, and/or locations.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), in good standing.
  • Certification in Mammography: R.T.(R) (M) (ARRT).
  • Current state licensure (RL) required prior to employment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Successful completion of 40 hours of mammography training.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of anatomy and related pathologic processes.
  • Ability to communicate well with Radiologists and physicians to coordinate proper imaging of patients.
  • One year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist.
