At R1 RCM, we're committed to delivering exceptional patient experiences and financial performance for hospitals, health systems, and medical groups. As a Coding Associate II - Orthopedics, you'll play a vital role in our revenue cycle management team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and evaluate patient medical records to accurately assign diagnosis and procedure codes, and modifiers with a focus on professional/hospital/facility coding
  • Analyze documentation to identify and resolve any documentation deficiencies which may impact coding, system edits, payer rejection and insurance denial trends
  • Contact clients and/or submit compliant queries, as appropriate, when documentation in the medical record is inadequate, ambiguous, or unclear for coding purposes
  • Monitor regulatory and payer changes as they apply to diagnostic and procedure coding, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of the current changes of coding practices by continuing education and reading resource material
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years coding experience required in Orthopedic Coding, E/M and minor surgical procedures
  • Nationally recognized coding credential including, but not limited to CPC, COC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIA or RHIT through AHIMA/AAPC
