Key Responsibilities
The Systems Engineer will assist the government team in developing and implementing specifications and standards that guide the integration of system software and hardware. This role will also involve reviewing and refining system interface designs, particularly in communications, network, and avionics systems. Key tasks include:
- Collaborating with NAVAIR, Air Force, and SAE International to review and update existing standards such as NIOP, OMS, and UCS.
- Updating Open Architecture requirements in solicitation documents and specifications.
- Ensuring traceability of requirements to design documentation and standards.
- Decomposing requirements into functional components for information exchange.
- Reviewing contractor deliverables to ensure compliance with open architecture standards and applicable ICDs.
- Providing insights into technical roadmaps for various weapon systems.
- Coordinating with the Software Test and Integration Lab for testing design approaches.
- Preparing and reviewing engineering analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation.
- Contributing technical inputs to whitepapers, briefs, and contractual language.
- Assisting with Statements of Work (SOWs), Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs), and other documentation.
- Reviewing Open Architecture documentation and offering feedback on necessary changes.
Qualifications
- Education/Experience: A Journeyman level candidate should possess 3 to 10 years of relevant experience and a BA/BS degree. A Senior level candidate should have over 10 years of experience and a MA/MS degree.
- Strong communication skills and adaptability in dynamic team settings.
- Excellent organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with NAVAIR SETR events and Cameo SysML is advantageous.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship is required due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements.
