POSITION SUMMARY:
The Food Processing Specialist will play a crucial role in the development, standardization, and enhancement of processing techniques, while also fostering the professional growth of the cross-functional team through ongoing training and support.
- Engage with diverse teams to create and execute product formulations, conduct trials, and ensure compliance with quality benchmarks.
- Gather and assess operational data and trends to formulate improvement strategies for processes, formulations, and equipment.
- Design, assess, implement, and sustain Thermal Processing programs to guarantee the safety and quality of food products.
- Facilitate knowledge transfer to stakeholders at Saturn Petcare by providing technical support and training.
- Collaborate with clients and regulatory bodies during site visits, inspections, and audits.
- Assist in deviation analyses and suggest product dispositions as necessary.
- Act as a subject matter expert, offering technical guidance to optimize thermal processes and troubleshoot issues.
- Possess the ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and devise solutions for challenges in equipment hardware, software, and processes.
- Demonstrate proficiency in understanding, monitoring, and testing equipment and systems.
- Support initiatives aimed at continuous improvement in production.
- Drive ongoing process enhancement efforts by identifying and mitigating inefficiencies within Engineering, R&D, and operations.
- Adhere to documentation standards, maintenance protocols, and system specifications in accordance with SQF requirements.
- Comprehend ingredient functionality and processability.
- Follow all company safety protocols and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with established production processes as per SQF standards.
- Maintain cleanliness at the job site during and after task completion in line with SQF requirements.
- Communicate any special requirements to the R&D Manager on a daily basis.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in food engineering, chemical engineering, food processing, food chemistry, food science, or a related field. Familiarity with thermal processing is essential. A minimum of 3 years of experience in food processing, thermal processing, food engineering, or related areas.
TECHNOLOGY SKILLS:
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications is preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operating instructions, and procedural manuals. Capable of writing routine reports and correspondence. Proficient in effectively communicating before groups of customers or employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to collect, interpret, and summarize data. Competence in applying statistical concepts.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to execute instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form. Capable of addressing problems involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.
