Position Overview:

The Material Handler/Dock Associate is responsible for operating heavy machinery within a designated production or storage facility. This role involves moving, organizing, and retrieving donated items in accordance with established procedures and safety protocols. Previous experience in a warehouse setting, particularly with forklift operation, is essential. The position may involve occasional customer interaction, requiring a commitment to delivering outstanding service.

Work Schedule:

This is a full-time role with flexible availability. Shifts may begin as early as 7:00 a.m. and extend until 5:00 p.m., with potential for later hours during peak seasons.

Compensation and Benefits:

Starting pay is $18.29 per hour, increasing to $18.79 per hour upon successful completion of forklift certification. Employees have the option for Daily Pay, allowing access to earned wages on a flexible schedule. Full-time staff are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, retirement plans, and various paid time off options.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and become certified on equipment such as forklifts, compactors, and pallet jacks to efficiently manage donated products.
  • Sort and categorize recyclable materials appropriately.
  • Ensure proper loading, unloading, and staging of trucks and trailers.
  • Maintain adequate supplies for production areas.
  • Proactively prepare materials and storage solutions to meet production demands.
  • Keep the warehouse and trailers organized and clean for optimal storage efficiency.
  • Prepare items for shipment and monitor incoming and outgoing products.
  • Maintain a tidy and organized workspace.
  • Manage waste and recycling bins to prevent overflow.
  • Adhere to organizational policies to minimize downtime and ensure smooth operations.
  • Contribute to a safe working environment for all employees and customers.
  • Cross-train in various departments as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Prior experience in storage, shipping, or receiving environments is preferred.
  • Ability to pass a forklift certification exam, including a drug screening.
  • Capability to safely operate balers and other machinery.
  • Ability to follow established processes and guidelines.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 45 lbs unassisted and up to 75 lbs with assistance.
  • Effective communication skills with customers and team members.
  • Willingness to work a varied schedule, including weekends and holidays.

The physical demands of this position include the ability to stand, bend, and lift for extended periods. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
