We are seeking a highly skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our team at Jackson North Medical Center - JNorth Multispecialty. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the delivery of high-quality medical services.
Key Responsibilities- Perform highly skilled technical work in diagnostic ultrasound using complex equipment for specialized and/or technically difficult patients.
- Maintain all safety precautions while administering treatments in a manner appropriate to the age-specific needs of the patient.
- Acquire pertinent clinical information from patient's chart and/or computer and maintain safety standards particular to the patient's age-specific needs.
- Develop films when Medical Surgical Technologist is not available.
- Record complete procedure in computer (HIS System) and records it on the daily log along with the technician's initials.
- Transport patients to different areas of the x-ray department, when needed.
- Perform portable exam.
- Assist radiologist in O.R. cases.
- Give preliminary impression to physicians after completion of an exam when report is not in computer.
- Explain to patient and/or nurse the correct prep for an exam and ensures that it agrees with their life cycle and safety requirement.
- Assist radiologist in the performance of special procedures.
- Set necessary equipment and supplies needed when a special procedure is to be done.
- Report equipment malfunction to supervisor.
- Clean examination room after each patient and adhere to infection Control Policies and Procedures, including Universal Precautions.
- Assist in training of ultrasound students, residents and fellows.
- Review CQI Quarterly Report in Section Meeting and contribute ideas for continuous quality improvement.
- Graduation from an accredited program in Ultrasound Technology is required.
- Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
- Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions.
- Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications.
- Must meet and maintain current all unit specific and organizational skills/competencies, certifications/licensures, as required by the nursing area.
The job function requires extended standing or walking. Must be able to carry objects weighing 21 to 50 pounds. Able to lift or move objects weighing 51 to 100 pounds with the use of appropriate devices. Jobs in this group require frequent visual acuity to perform activities related to extended use of computers.
Environmental ConditionsJobs in this group are required to function in a fast-paced environment with occasional high pressure or emergent and stressful situations. Frequent interaction with a diverse population including team members, providers, patients, insurance companies and other members of the public. Function is subject to inside environmental conditions, with occasional outdoor exposures. Exposure to various environments such as: communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a hospital and medical office environment.
