Microbiology Laboratory Technician

The Analyst I, working in an accredited commercial laboratory, provides routine scientific tasks under close supervision. The role involves preparing and processing samples, collecting information about substance composition, and utilizing specialized laboratory equipment and instrumentation to analyze samples.

• Prepare and process samples, adhering to established SOPs and state, federal, and accrediting body requirements.
• Collect information about substance composition to support analytical testing needs.
• Utilize specialized laboratory equipment and instrumentation to process and analyze samples.
• Accurately record observations and data, and perform basic interpretation of data.
• Maintain the integrity of procedures and record professional activity for peer review.
• Monitor and address sample backlog issues.
• Perform necessary laboratory administrative functions, such as filing paperwork and entering data into computerized LIMS.

• High School Diploma
• Basic knowledge of laboratory principles, terminology, practices, techniques, and instrumentation.
• Ability to effectively prioritize work and manage time to meet deadlines and rush orders.
• Computer literacy
• Ability to work with delicate laboratory equipment
• Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats
