Job Description:


At Techtronic Industries North America, we're pushing the boundaries of innovation in electrical engineering. As a Project Leader, you'll be responsible for leading international teams through global projects from concept to product launch, ensuring cost, schedule, and performance targets are met.


You'll be responsible for:

  • Providing leadership and managing multiple complex design projects with minimal direction.
  • Providing direction, guidance, and engineering expertise to team members.
  • Making component, material, or process recommendations and/or negotiations options.
  • Reviewing work of designers, engineers, and other project team members.
  • Overseeing day-to-day activities of cross-functional project team members.
  • Scheduling and developing agendas, facilitating and documenting project meetings.
  • Escalating critical issues to management in a timely manner.
  • Communicating with all groups to ensure timely project completion.
  • Driving design of products to meet market-driven design guides and fulfill cost, timing, reliability, and high-volume manufacturing requirements.
  • Identifying and mitigating manufacturing risks with suppliers.
  • Analyzing, evaluating, and selecting design execution alternatives to best meet specification objectives.
  • Implementing designs into mass production and challenging cost increases.
  • Accountable for technical elements of project execution, including integration of complicated components and assemblies, material selection, packaging, and safety, regulatory, and standards compliance.
  • Overseeing the team in designing new experiments and test systems, ensuring correlation to real-world results.
  • Exhibiting vision and foresight to test the extremes of a design and guide team members through well-thought-out, logical test regimes.
  • Conducting design, safety, and IP reviews as needed to gain necessary approvals for product development phase progressions.
  • Complying with all METCo procedures covering new product development and design output, as well as procedures of non-engineering departments related to project flow.
  • May occasionally recommend changes to existing standards and procedures.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering is required; Graduate studies preferred in Project Management or Engineering Management.
  • Formal project management training preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years engineering experience in a related field.
  • Must have experience in managing multiple low-moderate complexity projects and/or subsystems of larger projects.
  • Must possess a high level of Mechanical engineering aptitude, including a broad knowledge of engineering materials used in hand tools, as well as an understanding of manufacturing processes associated with these materials and processes.
  • Must have a working design knowledge of a wide variety of technologies associated with Milwaukee products.
  • Must be able to personally conduct detailed analyses or recognize the need to seek the appropriate expertise to achieve the desired results.
  • Must have prior experience designing and developing high-volume products as a design engineer or in a similar technical capacity.
  • Must have excellent understanding of phase gate NPD process, cross-functional leadership, and stakeholder management.
  • Must have experience working with cross-functional teams and have the ability to influence and lead difficult decisions.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software, including Microsoft Project.
  • PMP certification is a plus.


CAD Skill Level:

BASIC 3D; NX experience is a preferred.


5-15% travel required, including domestic and international as needed.
