Key Responsibilities- Assist patients with daily living activities and provide necessary care to promote their health and well-being.
- Collect patient specimens and data, including vital signs, input/output, and other delegated measurements, in accordance with unit/facility policy and standards of care.
- Document objective data and routine aspects of patient care, ensuring accurate and complete communication to other caregivers.
- Perform procedures and use equipment as delegated by a licensed professional, consistent with demonstrated competencies and according to state scope of practice.
- Provide necessary supplies, support, and assistance to medical staff and patients for unit-specific procedures.
- Participate in the resolution of customer problems or collect necessary data and follow through to the appropriate person for problem resolution.
- Maintain a complete patient record with admission, transfer, and discharge information, progress notes, and consent forms.
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
- Current BLS certification.
- Current C.N.A. license in state of practice may be required in certain facilities and/or departments in accordance with regulatory requirements or facility/department policy.
- Depending on department assignment, completion of unit-approved basic electrocardiogram or electroencephalographic interpretation course or on-the-job training and a minimum passing score of 85% on ECG or EEG test, with accurate identification of all lethal cardiac dysrhythmias or epileptiform activity.
- Requires skills and abilities typically attained with 1 year of medical clerical experience; preferably in a hospital or physician office setting, or prior experience in customer service.
- Recent healthcare experience preferred.
- Successful completion of an approved unit secretary program is preferred.
- Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
