We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our team at the Oregon State Penitentiary in Salem, Oregon. As a Nurse Practitioner, you will be responsible for providing primary care and medical management to adults in custody, including examination, diagnosis, treatment, and performance of specialized procedures within the scope of practice.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate patients for signs of malformation or disease, including examination of the heart, lungs, and gastrointestinal system.
- Develop and carry out complete patient treatment plans as primary provider, including treatment of infections, sprains, and simple fractures.
- Perform venipuncture as needed and order laboratory studies, interpreting results to inform treatment decisions.
- Refers cases to physicians and healthcare specialists for conditions outside the scope of practice.
- Confers directly with physicians regarding diagnosis and care-management challenges.
- A current Nurse Practitioner's license and Registered Nurse license issued by the Oregon State Board of Nursing.
- Requested knowledge in diagnostic techniques, nursing principles and practices, current treatment for common human diseases, and human growth and behavior.
- Requested skills in therapeutic treatments, use of examination instruments, and administration of medication, patient assessment, and communication with a variety of individuals.
