RTO Mission Operations Controller

JT4 is a leading provider of engineering and technical support services to the U.S. Air Force and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, also known as J-Tech II. Our team develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments, preparing our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.

Job Summary

The RTO Mission Operations Controller plays a critical role in providing control, coordination, and direction to personnel operating system assets involved in mission activity. This position requires a high degree of complexity, with widely varying duties including the complete cycle of mission parameters, determining cause and effect relationships, reaching conclusions, and recommending solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct Range Training Office (RTO) objectives using applicable systems for each mission.
  • Setup, operate, and monitor communications networks, computer terminals, and CRT video displays to ensure integrity of mission objectives.
  • Provide positive control of assets during assigned missions as directed in the mission plan.
  • Understand high-speed RADAR pictures, communicating to aircraft during time-sensitive dynamic missions.
  • Interface directly with project directors and customers to ensure mission objectives are met with scheduled systems.
  • Provide assistance with scheduling and administrative requirements.
Requirements

The incumbent should be a high school graduate or equivalent, with a graduate degree from a military Air Intercept Control school or Air Weapons Control school. A minimum of 4 years' experience controlling aircraft using close and tactical control is required, as well as 6 years' experience with electronic systems, radars, communications/video systems, and knowledge of their operational characteristics.

The incumbent must be familiar with training procedures and experienced in directing the use of test assets and personnel to fulfill mission goals in an ambitious training environment. Good verbal and written communication skills are essential, as well as experience in the use of computer terminals. The incumbent must be able to work duty days in excess of eight hours, shift work, overnight stays, and weekend work to meet required schedule demands.

Working knowledge of word processing and integrated software applications is required. The incumbent may be required to qualify for and maintain a government security clearance and must possess a valid state-issued driver's license.
