Position Overview: The Clinical Therapist plays a vital role in delivering comprehensive social services to patients and their families. As an essential member of the treatment team, this role encompasses a wide array of therapeutic and rehabilitative activities tailored to the needs of the population served.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education, Certification, and/or Licensure:

  • Master's Degree in a relevant field.
  • West Virginia Licensure in the respective field (candidates who are eligible for licensure but have faced delays due to external circumstances may also be considered).
  • Licensure options include LGSW, LCSW, LICSW, or a temporary Social Work permit, with the expectation of obtaining permanent licensure within six months of employment.
  • Alternatively, candidates may hold LPC or provisional licensure certificate, or be a Supervised-Psychologist or Licensed Psychologist.
  • Nurse Practitioners with Advanced Certification in psychiatric nursing are also eligible.
  • A valid driver's license is required for specific service areas.
  • A criminal background check is mandatory as per state regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education, Certification, and/or Licensure:

  • Advanced certification is preferred where applicable.
  • Certification in HeartSaver First Aid must be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Experience:

  • Prior experience in a mental health setting is preferred.

Core Responsibilities: The following duties outline the general nature of work expected from individuals in this position. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

  • Actively participate as a professional member of an interdisciplinary treatment team under the guidance of a physician.
  • Engage in clinical activities within a treatment area and facilitate a therapeutic environment on the unit when applicable.
  • Provide individualized psychotherapy services to patients as required by specific program needs.
  • Collaborate with medical staff to assess the appropriateness of services and receive referrals for intervention.
  • Evaluate the developmental age of patients to assist the treatment team in creating and implementing tailored treatment plans.
  • Conduct psychosocial assessments, including identifying high-risk indicators and documenting psychosocial history.
  • Integrate all collected data on psychosocial history in a clinically relevant manner for each patient.
  • Engage in continued-care planning from the onset of services.
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions as deemed appropriate.
  • Serve as a liaison for patients and their families to various community resources and services.
  • Document all patient interactions as required.
  • Provide family therapy as directed by treatment plans.
  • Maintain necessary certifications, licensure, and competencies through ongoing supervision and training.
  • Participate in continuing education and in-service training to uphold professional standards.
  • Adhere to the performance expectations set forth by the organization.
