Fleet Mechanic Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Fleet Mechanic to join our team at US Foods, Inc. As a Fleet Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our fleet of diesel equipment, ensuring that our vehicles are in top condition and ready to hit the road.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and repair diesel equipment, including tractors, trailers, and refrigeration units.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on our fleet, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake pad replacements.
  • Document all repairs and maintenance activities in our Shop Fax system.
  • Handle road service calls and perform road rescue/transport equipment as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to workplace safety rules and regulations.
  • Manage inventory and maintain accurate recordkeeping.
  • Backup to other maintenance shop personnel as needed.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience as a heavy duty commercial diesel mechanic or reefer mechanic.
  • Diagnostic and troubleshooting competency relating to equipment repairs.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • CDL A and DOT certification preferred.
