In this role, the Oncology Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant provides healthcare services to patients, encompassing health promotion, cancer prevention, acute and chronic illness care, and education and counseling for patients and their families.

Responsibilities:

The Oncology Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant:
Assesses patients' physical and psychological status through interviews, health histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic studies
Conducts patient examinations and collects physical condition information
Orders medical equipment, supplies, and various diagnostic tests (e.g., lab tests, X-rays, CT scans)
Develops treatment plans in collaboration with physicians, including disease diagnosis and appropriate care plans
Provides patient care, including administering injections, immunizations, wound care, and prescribing medications and therapies under supervision
Interprets and evaluates findings from diagnostic studies, ensuring therapeutic plans align with patients' ongoing care needs
Documents patient history, admission notes, care plans, progress notes, discharge notes, and follow-up letters
Supervises and coordinates the duties of procedural assistants, ensuring departmental policies and standards of care are maintained

Qualifications:
Current NYS Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Certification
Oncology experience and knowledge
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
