We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Instructional Assistant to join our team at Compton Unified School District. As an Instructional Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our teachers and students in achieving academic success.
Key Responsibilities- Tutor individuals or small groups of students, reinforcing instruction as directed by the teacher.
- Provide support to the teacher by assisting in setting up work areas, displays and exhibits, operating audiovisual equipment, and distributing and collecting paper and supplies in the classroom.
- Monitor, observe, and report progress regarding student performance and behavior.
- Direct group activities of students as assigned.
- Confer with teachers concerning programs and materials to meet student needs.
- Assure the health and safety of students by following health and safety practices and regulations.
- Perform routine clerical duties in support of classroom activities such as duplicating and filing instructional materials.
- Assist students by providing proper examples of emotional support, a friendly attitude, and general guidance.
- Assist the teacher in administering tests according to established guidelines.
- Participate in meetings, conferences, and in-service training programs as assigned.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Six months experience in working with children in an organized setting.
- Completion of at least 2 years of study (48 semester units) at an institution of higher education; or
- Possession of an associate's (or higher) degree; or
- Graduation from high school and passage of a formal state or local academic assessment that demonstrates knowledge and the ability to assist in teaching reading, writing, and mathematics or reading, writing, and mathematics readiness.
