Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team at Ivy H. Smith, LLC. As a key member of our crew, you will play a vital role in connecting America by operating heavy equipment to install and repair underground and aerial utilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate diesel or gasoline powered equipment to/from/on job sites, including backhoes, trenchers, directional bores, digger derricks, pole/bucket trucks.
  • Perform clearing, grading, excavations, and other equipment functions on construction sites.
  • Restore properties or worksites as needed associated with installation and repair of underground/aerial utilities.
  • Perform general construction work, including physical labor, under direction of Foreman or Supervisor.
  • Demonstrate ability to follow directions, produce quality work, and maintain safe working habits/conditions according to Federal, State, and Company regulations and policies.
Requirements
  • At least 18 years old.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Prior experience in Telecommunications, Power, or Utility Construction/Maintenance industry.
  • Valid CDL Class A required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Utility Construction/Maintenance industry.
  • Able to operate various types of utility trucks, equipment, and hand tools in a safe manner.
  • Capable of reading prints and interpreting utility maps to identify type and size of underground utilities.
  • Able to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs as needed with or without assistance.
  • Able to work as needed, including overtime, after hours, on weekends, for emergencies, or on-call.
