Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist Assistant to join our team at Fortis Health. As an integral part of our home health care services, you will work closely with our occupational therapists to provide high-quality care to patients in their homes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement occupational therapy services in accordance with physicians' plans of treatment.
  • Use orthotics designed by occupational therapists as indicated by clients' conditions and needs.
  • Treat clients through the use of therapeutic activities designed to restore function and self-care activities for improving function under the direction of occupational therapists.
  • Observe, record, and report clients' reactions to treatment and any changes in their condition to occupational therapists and/or directors.
  • Participate in instructing clients, families, and other health team personnel in exercise programs developed by occupational therapists for strengthening and controlling clients' upper extremities.
  • Cooperate with occupational therapists and appropriate staff to provide staff education when requested and arranged by directors.
  • Demonstrate and teach alternate techniques developed by occupational therapists to complete activities of daily living, proper transfers, and positioning.
  • Assist occupational therapists in ordering and/or fabricating adaptive/assistive devices and equipment.
  • Attend client care conferences and initiate client care conferences for complex and/or multidisciplinary clients when needed or helpful to ensure good coordination of care.
  • Develop, prepare, and maintain individualized client care progress records with accuracy, timeliness, and according to policies.
  • Submit accurate documentation in accordance with agency policies.
  • Keep abreast of occupational therapy trends and knowledge.
  • Participate in in-service programs.
Requirements:
  • Graduated after successful completion of an occupational therapy assistant education program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association, Inc. (AOTA) or its successor organizations, and has successfully completed the entry-level certification examination for occupational therapy assistants developed and administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc. (NBCOT).
  • Licensed as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in this Agency's practicing State.
  • Minimum of two years experience as an occupational therapy assistant.
