Perishable Goods Inspector

Job Summary:

US Foods, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Produce Quality Control Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our receiving and inventory management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of our perishable goods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate daily with our procurement and logistics teams to resolve any issues related to perishable items.
  • Make recommendations on disposal and repackaging of damaged or spoiled products.
  • Inspect and verify purchase order quantities for all inbound perishable loads.
  • Inspect all inbound trucks for signs of pests and rodents before unloading.
  • Ensure compliance with all standard operating procedures related to receiving, storage, and shipping.
  • Identify any issues to our warehouse management team.
  • Document temperatures of all inbound loads and report any violations to our warehouse manager and procurement team.
  • Responsible for proper rotation of all produce inventory and perishable items.
  • Perform daily quality inspections for all perishable items.
  • Perform daily date checks and pull all expired product from pick and reserve slots.
  • Complete daily disposal and damage report and submit to our warehouse supervisor or inventory control team.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 1 year of produce experience (foodservice, retail, grower/shipper) or similar required.
  • Must be able to operate an electric pallet jack.
  • Must work well without close supervision.
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
  • Team-player – flexible and willing to learn new things and adapt to changing business needs.
