About First Student's Mechanic Position

At First Student, our technicians play a vital role in ensuring the safety and reliability of our fleet of vehicles. As a Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on our buses and other vehicles, using your diagnostic skills to troubleshoot issues and complete work orders efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Performing maintenance on brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions
  • Completing work orders and ensuring timely completion of tasks
  • Assisting with mobile emergency services and responding to vehicle breakdowns
Requirements:
  • 3 or more years of experience working with automotive, diesel, electric, or CNG vehicles
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to obtain a CDL (training provided)
  • Mechanic's tool set and ability to work independently
  • ASE testing and certification a plus
What We Offer:
  • $30 - $31 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
  • $5,000 Sign On Bonus (conditions apply)
  • ASE incentive of $.25/hour for each relevant ASE obtained
  • Monday-Friday, 9 am - 5 pm, full-time shift
