Tact Staff is seeking a skilled Clinical Document Improvement Specialist to join our team as a travel nurse. This is a unique opportunity to work with a reputable healthcare organization and contribute to the improvement of clinical documentation practices.
Key Responsibilities- Perform clinical documentation validation reviews to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of patient records.
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative reviews and analysis of clinical health records and physician queries to identify discrepancies and areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve clinical documentation practices, including educational opportunities and process improvements.
- Collaborate with clinical documentation specialists and physician leadership to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Participate in the clinical denial/appeal process for DRG challenges and clinical validations of both external and internal claims.
- Current RN licensure and 3-5 years of experience in Clinical Document Improvement.
- Proficient in APR and MS DRG methodology, as well as experience with Power Chart (Cerner), 3M 360, and Midas.
- Strong knowledge of clinical documentation/coding principles, including Trauma, NICU, and Obstetric Service lines.
- Ability to review denials, create and submit appeal letters, and identify educational opportunities.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
