Patient Care Responsibilities:
* Execute routine patient care tasks within an assigned unit under the guidance of a Registered Nurse.
* Support the patient's care plan by assisting with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, mobility, and comfort.
* Efficiently coordinate daily patient care activities on the nursing unit.
* Aid nursing staff in facilitating patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.
* Perform various duties as delegated by nursing personnel.
* Respond to patient requests and communicate with appropriate staff when necessary.
* Assist patients in fulfilling their nutritional needs, including feeding and providing fluids.
Inventory Management:
* Order, stock, and replenish unit supplies and equipment efficiently.
* Participate in identifying financial responsibilities during budget preparation.
* Help maintain the unit within budget constraints.
Communication Duties:
* Facilitate communication within the unit, including managing telephones and intercom systems.
* Relay patient information and concerns to the appropriate interdisciplinary team members.
* Direct communication among visitors, staff, and physicians within the unit.
Customer Service Expectations:
* Greet visitors and assist them with inquiries, providing directions as needed.
* Manage telephone calls and direct them to the appropriate department or staff member.
* Maintain a polite and friendly demeanor in all interactions.
* Ensure a safe and clean environment for patients and healthcare teams.
Documentation Responsibilities:
* Accurately document care provided using worksheets or electronic medical records.
Regulatory Compliance:
* Adhere to professional standards and hospital policies.
* Comply with relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
* Maintain confidentiality of all patient healthcare information.
Qualifications:
* High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
* At least one year of recent nursing assistant experience is necessary.
* Availability for 72-80 hours of work in each biweekly schedule is required.
* Competence and willingness to work in multiple inpatient units is essential.
* Certification is preferred but not mandatory.
* Must obtain and maintain CPR certification as required.
* Basic computer knowledge is preferred.
* Ability to read and write is necessary.
* Must recognize changes in patient conditions and report to appropriate staff.
