Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Travel Nurse RN to join our dedicated team at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center. This role focuses on providing exceptional care in a Med/Surg environment, particularly in post-operative gastrointestinal and wound management.

Certification Requirements
  • Mandatory certifications include ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, and EFM, varying by specialty.
  • Candidates must renew their CPI cards through Ochsner.
Job Responsibilities
  • This position requires expertise in post-operative care for patients with conditions such as pancreatitis, GI bleeds, bowel obstructions, and wound infections.
  • Acute care experience is essential, along with a background in Med/Surg and post-operative settings.
  • Applicants must have completed at least one travel contract.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience is required.
Patient Care Focus

As a Travel Nurse, you will manage a variety of patient diagnoses and special procedures, including:

  • Patient Diagnoses: Pancreatitis, GI bleeds, bowel obstructions, and more.
  • Special Procedures: Pancreatectomy, Whipple, and other complex surgeries.
Equipment Proficiency

Familiarity with medical equipment such as:

  • PEG, PCA, JP drains, and wound vacs is preferred.
Work Schedule

The contract duration is 13 weeks. The manager may consider a blocked schedule for candidates willing to work weekend rotations.

Additional Requirements
  • A current and valid Driver's License or government-issued photo ID is necessary.
  • All candidates must possess an active LA License or Compact License upon submission.
  • License verification is required within 30 days of starting.
