As we continue to grow, we are seeking a motivated and proactive Civil Engineer to join our Engineering team.

Starting Salary: $65,000 or more based on experience, education, and skills

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your journey with Wells will begin with an emphasis on quality assurance, a critical aspect of our engineering process. Our commitment to detail and excellence distinguishes us from our competitors.
  • Observe Quality Control (QC) technicians at the facility.
  • Learn to conduct physical tests on concrete within the laboratory.
  • Familiarize yourself with entering pre/post pour data in Concrete Vision (CV), our internal production system.
  • Complete the American Concrete Institute (ACI) field I Test.
  • Inspect forms prior to pouring.
  • Gain knowledge of mix designs, finishes, Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and performance metrics.
  • Achieve certification through the Precast Concrete Institute (PCI) I/II.
  • Work proficiently with mix designs and finishes.
  • Prepare and pour sample mixes.
  • Utilize NCRs and metrics to address root causes and drive continuous improvement.
  • Conduct site visits to identify issues, report findings to operations, and assist in developing new processes and procedures.
  • Contribute to the creation of new metrics aimed at reducing NCR occurrences.
Upon completing the Quality Assurance phase, you will transition to our Field Services division.
  • Shadow a senior field supervisor and support the layout process.
  • Interpret blueprints and communicate work plans to the crew.
  • Employ surveying equipment to ensure proper vertical and horizontal alignment of products.
  • Coordinate with dispatch for daily load times and sequencing.
  • Oversee the installation process at job sites.
  • Address and resolve issues that arise during installation.
  • Draft weekly progress reports.
  • Assist field operation managers with initial job site visits to discuss start dates, crane and truck access, and project concerns with clients.
  • Source necessary construction equipment and materials for project completion.
  • Manage shipping schedules and determine the appropriate equipment and crew size for each project.
  • Coordinate daily job responsibilities.
  • Ensure efficient mobilization to subsequent sites.
  • Adhere to bracing procedures and job-specific plans on all projects.
  • Support laborers and operators to accomplish project tasks.
The final segment of your training will involve hands-on experience in engineering design. You will collaborate closely with Wells Design Engineers to create precast concrete products for diverse projects, acquiring invaluable skills.
  • Partner with Wells Design Engineers to design precast concrete products for various projects, including FLEXURAL DESIGN (Hollowcore, Double Tees, and Beams), as well as wall panel design focusing on load capacity and handling.
  • Prepare to take the PE exam and pursue your Professional Engineer license.
EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering is mandatory.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Capable of lifting up to 75 lbs occasionally.
  • Able to push, pull, lift, bend, climb, kneel, twist, squat, crawl, and use hands/forearms repetitively and frequently.
  • Ability to remain mobile for up to 12 hours daily.
  • Comfortable working from ladders, scaffolding, swing stages, and man lifts at various heights regularly.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Field visits will necessitate safety precautions and may involve exposure to harsh weather conditions.
  • Moderate to high risk of exposure to unusual elements.
  • Moderate to high risk associated with safety precautions.
  • Moderate to high exposure to a production environment.
  • Work in wet, hot, humid, and wintry conditions (weather-related).
  • Ability to work outdoors year-round.
