Role Summary:

As a Fire Alarm Project Manager within the Fire Protection sector, you will be responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and successful delivery of fire alarm installation projects. This position requires effective coordination with clients, management of project teams, and collaboration with other project coordinators and operations managers as necessary. Your contributions will be crucial in ensuring that all projects adhere to industry standards, regulations, and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Planning & Coordination:
    • Formulate comprehensive project plans, outlining scope, timelines, and resource distribution.
    • Conduct thorough reviews of project specifications, drawings, and related documentation.
    • Perform site assessments to confirm field conditions and compile preliminary material lists.
    • Generate material orders based on finalized drawings.
    • Oversee installation processes, equipment, tools, and materials.
  2. Communication:
    • Initiate contact with clients and/or general contractors to introduce your role as Project Manager.
    • Maintain regular communication with engineers until drawings are finalized, ensuring accuracy.
    • Provide consistent updates regarding project status, milestones, and any modifications or challenges.
    • Facilitate weekly safety meetings.
    • Address client inquiries and feedback promptly and professionally.
    • Offer technical assistance to technicians.
    • Conduct system training for on-site management personnel.
  3. Scheduling:
    • Organize inspections: rough, final, and acceptance testing.
    • Develop job schedules for installation, testing, and commissioning as required by contracts.
  4. Reporting and Analysis:
    • Create and maintain precise project documentation, including contracts, completion percentages, change orders, and progress reports.
    • Prepare and submit comprehensive project reports, encompassing financials, progress metrics, and outcomes.
  5. Compliance and Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and national fire safety regulations.
    • Conduct site inspections and quality control assessments to confirm installations meet company standards and client expectations.
    • Resolve any technical issues or discrepancies that arise during the project lifecycle.
    • Identify potential risks and formulate strategies to mitigate them.
    • Monitor and manage project risks, ensuring timely resolution of any issues that may affect project success.
  6. Miscellaneous Tasks:
    • Travel to project sites as necessary.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or relevant certifications are advantageous.
  • 5+ years of experience in fire alarm systems management, with a minimum of 2 years in a project management capacity preferred.
  • Required certifications: F-Card, NICET, OSHA-30, Lift, CPR, and Siemens (or equivalent) Programming Certifications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and engineering software applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Capability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Dependable and adaptable, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
