Senior Legal Counsel

Azusa Pacific University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our Office of the General Counsel. As a key member of our team, you will provide expert legal advice and support to our leadership and departments, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high-level legal counsel to the University's leadership and departments on a wide range of matters, including employment law, litigation management, higher education law, and commercial transactions.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to advance the University's gospel mission and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Manage and supervise outside counsel and other representatives of the University in general litigation or claims.
- Design and deliver compliance training and education to all areas of the University community.
- Collaborate with the General Counsel and University Integrity Officer to provide a high level of professional legal service to the University.
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
- 7-10 years of experience in two or more of the following areas: employment law, litigation management, higher education law, nonprofit/religious corporation governance, commercial transactions, and contract review.
- Member in good standing with the State Bar of California.
- Specialized experience in labor and employment litigation defense, through all phases at the trial-court level.
- Proficiency in legal research platforms (Lexis Nexis and Westlaw) and Microsoft programs, including Word and Excel.
- Working knowledge of Google Docs and the Google operating environment.
