Role Summary:

The Retail Shopper Insights & Category Manager will drive revenue growth by identifying brand opportunities, commercializing retail shopper insights, and activating our omni-channel sales strategy. This highly visible role requires expertise in brand-performance tracking, analytics, retail shopper insights, and category management.

This position reports directly to the Director of Consumer Insights and has a dotted line to the VP of Sales.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Track DSC's brand performance and competitive landscape, analyzing POS data, panel, innovation, and syndicated data for a 360-view of the marketplace.
  • Provide customer-centric guidance by leveraging trends and insights to uncover business opportunities that grow both category sales and our customers' business.
  • Drive brand growth by understanding and uncovering distribution and customer marketing opportunities.
  • Translate consumer insights into customer-facing and commercial growth opportunities, e.g., activating the 'club' idea on the retailer level.
  • Lead analytics for DSC-Owned Customer Accounts, utilizing individual data portals (Retail Link/Luminate, Target POL, Albertsons, etc.).
  • Manage POS tracking, inventory tracking, and forecasting.
  • Deliver Line Review insights and strategy in partnership with sale leaders.
  • Drive routine deliverables: monthly scorecard and weekly reporting for top customers.
  • Collaborate with the supply team for inventory monitoring, evaluating brand performance, and identifying category opportunities.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Analytics, or an equivalent field; MBA or other advanced degrees preferred.
  • 4+ years leveraging Walmart, Target, and other retailer vendor data portals.
  • 4+ years working with syndicated data: IRI, Nielsen, Numerator, Kantar, and other sources.
  • Experience in shopper insights or an equivalent field.
  • Strong proficiency in go-to-market strategies and translating insights into actionable next steps against business objectives.
  • Experience connecting dots among various data sources for a cohesive story; data visualization.
  • Experience in a variety of methodologies, including qualitative (e.g., ethnography, consumer journeys, online consumer panels) and quantitative research.
  • Experience managing relationships with third-party research agencies.
  • Outstanding written, visual, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong influencing skills with leaders, cross-functional teams, and suppliers.
  • Strong project ownership and management skills; an agile problem solver.
  • A strong growth mindset.

$125,000 - $135,000 + Bonus
