About the Role

The Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Saint Louis University is seeking an accomplished physician leader to serve as the Chair of the Department. This is a unique opportunity to advance academic orthopedic surgery and grow education, research, and patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and management of the Department's functions, including education, research, and clinical services.
  • Establish a vision for the Department and effectively communicate its contributions to the success of the School of Medicine, the profession, and the health of the community.
  • Participate in strategic planning for Saint Louis University School of Medicine and SSM Health SLUCare.
  • Work collaboratively with institutional leaders and colleagues to develop and advance the goals of the institution.
  • Encourage and support diversity, equity, and inclusion among the Department's constituents.
  • Mentor Department Division Directors and ensure mentorship of faculty.
  • Participate in local, state, regional, and national professional associations and bring the value of that participation back to the Department, the School of Medicine, and SSM Health.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of academic and clinical leadership, a commitment to advancing orthopedic surgery, and a passion for mentoring and developing faculty and staff. They will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
