Position Overview

The Ranching Heritage Association is in search of a dynamic and strategic Senior Director of Development to spearhead the fundraising initiatives for the National Ranching Heritage Center (NRHC). This pivotal role will lead a significant capital campaign aimed at raising $40 million to support the establishment and functioning of the Red Steagall Institute for Traditional Western Arts. This innovative facility is dedicated to preserving the knowledge of contemporary masters while fostering connections between students, visitors, and the rich legacy of Western art and values.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and direct all major gift fundraising activities, concentrating on securing contributions of seven figures and above to support the NRHC and the capital campaign for the Red Steagall Institute.
  • Work in close collaboration with the NRHC team and external partners to devise and implement strategic fundraising initiatives that align with campaign objectives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with high-level donors, ensuring their ongoing engagement and investment in the NRHC's mission and capital campaign.
  • Formulate and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies, including the identification, research, and solicitation of prospective major donors.
  • Manage the planning and execution of donor events, meetings, and other activities designed to engage and acknowledge major gift contributors.
  • Collaborate with the NRHC team to develop compelling fundraising materials and presentations that effectively convey the vision and impact of the Red Steagall Institute and the NRHC.
  • Monitor and report on fundraising progress, providing regular updates to the Executive Director, campaign leadership, and the Ranching Heritage Association Board of Directors.
  • Ensure that all fundraising activities adhere to the highest ethical standards and reflect the values of the NRHC and the Ranching Heritage Association.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in Major and Principal Gifts Fundraising, with a proven history of securing seven-figure and higher contributions from high-net-worth individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  • Strategic Fundraising Expertise, demonstrating the ability to develop and implement successful fundraising strategies.
  • Exceptional Relationship-Building Skills.
  • Knowledge of Philanthropic Trends.
  • Advanced Communication and Negotiation Skills.
  • Proficiency in Donor Research and Analytics.
  • Experience with Campaigns, particularly in leading capital campaigns or large-scale fundraising initiatives.
  • Collaborative Leadership, with the ability to work effectively with senior leadership, board members, and other stakeholders to drive fundraising success.
  • Commitment to Ethical Fundraising.
  • Advanced Degree or Certification in nonprofit management, business administration, or a related field, or certification in fundraising (e.g., CFRE) is preferred.

This position is based at the National Ranching Heritage Center office. Remote or hybrid work arrangements may be considered for candidates located near major transportation hubs.
