Job Summary

Ashe Memorial Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Operating Room Technician to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will assist surgeons during operative and invasive procedures, ensuring a safe and efficient environment for patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons during operative and invasive procedures, maintaining a sterile environment and adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Prepare the operating room for procedures, ensuring all necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment are available.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate counts of instruments, sponges, and needles, reporting any discrepancies to the circulator and surgeon.
  • Participate in departmental staff meetings and performance improvement activities, contributing to the development of policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other members of the OR nursing team to maintain equipment and supplies for surgical procedures.
  • Update physicians' preference cards and maintain accurate records of procedures and patient information.
Requirements
  • High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Completion of an approved Surgical Technology Program preferred.
  • Current knowledge of principles of asepsis and techniques in surgery.
  • Prior work experience in the operating room and/or experience in sterile technique preferred.
  • NC LPN certification or Certified Operating Room Tech or Paramedic.
  • BLS certification.
