Job Overview

Position: Piping Specialist

Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire

Compensation: $28.00 per hour (based on experience)

Work Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 10-hour day shift (with potential overtime on Fridays)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Designs, assembles, installs, and maintains piping and plumbing systems utilizing various materials. These systems may encompass pipes, pressure and vacuum gauges, pipeline filters, steam traps, and strainer valves.
  • Interprets blueprints, work orders, schematics, or directives; formulates operational procedures based on specifications.
  • Collects necessary equipment and materials for tasks.
  • Welds, cuts, bends, threads, solders, and fits pipes as required.
  • Secures pipes and piping systems to structures using brackets, bracket systems, or clamps, and prepares openings as needed.
  • Installs diverse types of insulation and pipe coverings; safely removes and disposes of old coverings in compliance with hazardous waste protocols and in accordance with EPA and OSHA standards.
  • Examines pipes, conducts pressure and leak tests; reports and/or addresses issues as they arise.
  • Collaborates with management to schedule machinery maintenance, repairs, and installations to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Adheres to relevant safety and building codes, regulations, and best practices.
  • Keeps accurate records, including safety logs and inspection details.
  • Performs additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Proficient in reading schematics and blueprints.
  • Capable of utilizing a variety of tools, including blowtorches, saws, pipe benders, and welding torches.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
Education and Experience:
  • Completion of a four-year apprenticeship program that included both classroom and hands-on training in pipefitting or a related discipline.
  • Possession of a valid state license.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand and stretch for extended periods while installing and repairing pipes and fittings.
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 15 pounds as necessary.
  • Visual acuity necessary for inspecting piping systems and interpreting plans or blueprints.
