About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team at kW Mission Critical Engineering, a WSP company. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing complex power and building systems, including generator plants, medium voltage distribution, and uninterruptible power systems.

Your Impact
  1. Design electrical systems for buildings, including lighting, receptacle, general, essential, and critical electrical infrastructure.
  2. Work in a team or independently, planning and executing engineering tasks within projects.
  3. Demonstrate significant understanding of the range of services provided by the kW MCE engineering teams and related practices.
  4. Independently support the team during design and construction stages of projects.
  5. Lead the electrical design of complex projects.
  6. Work within multi-discipline project teams to develop drawing and specification documents for issuance to architects, contractors, and building owners.
  7. Attend client meetings and contribute to discussions.
  8. Lead and mentor entry-level and junior engineers.
  9. Collaborate and coordinate with internal project discipline team members, equipment vendors, and manufacturers.
  10. Communicate complex electrical engineering concepts and decisions to clients and stakeholders.
  11. Integrate complex electrical engineering requirements into facility designs.
  12. Interact regularly with clients to maintain current relationships and develop new relationships.
  13. Lead meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
  14. Research and recommend fundamental components identified in electrical designs.
  15. Develop equipment rooms layouts, floor plans, and one-line diagrams.
  16. Schedule equipment.
  17. Prepare short circuit, coordination, and arc flash calculations.
  18. Perform construction administration tasks.
  19. Survey and evaluate existing conditions.
Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with electrical building systems emphasis, and 5+ years of experience in designing electrical systems for high-performing, commercial, industrial, or mission critical/data center buildings.

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, teamwork, and communication skills, both written and verbal, and proficiency with applicable software packages including AutoCAD, Revit, SKM, eTap, or Cyme. Knowledge of building, electrical, and energy codes is also required.

Preferred qualifications include EIT or Registered Professional Engineer (PE), experience with the analysis and modeling of short circuit, coordination, and arc flash analysis, experience with the design of highly reliable, robust, and concurrently maintainable Medium and Low Voltage infrastructure, Mission Critical/Data Center experience, and experience with international projects.
