Position: Mechanical Systems Technician
As a vital member of the Production Team at VJ Technologies, you will engage in the integration, assembly, testing, packaging, and installation of advanced industrial x-ray systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Integrate comprehensive electro-mechanical systems by providing hands-on support in machine construction, including mechanical fabrication, assembly, startup, and testing based on technical drawings and verbal instructions.
- Assemble and install electro-mechanical sub-assemblies, components, and parts.
- Conduct light machining tasks as necessary.
- Perform layout and cutting of frames, cabinets, panels, and related components as required.
- Oversee primary mechanical assembly and disassembly of machines.
- Ensure compliance with US and European standards, quality benchmarks, and all relevant safety protocols established by the company.
- Assist with wiring custom systems when possible, including electrical panel assembly, machine wiring, and system startup testing.
- Travel to client locations for installation, troubleshooting, and testing of systems (approximately 25% travel required).
- Execute various duties as assigned, including cleanup, light maintenance, material handling, inventory management, crate/pallet construction, furniture assembly, and forklift operation.
Essential Qualifications:
- High School Diploma with relevant technical training or education.
- A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing setting, particularly in the integration and fabrication of complex electro-mechanical systems.
- Strong mechanical and electrical skills with proficiency in using basic hand and power tools.
- Demonstrated fabrication and layout capabilities.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering documentation.
- Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
- Must be a collaborative team player, capable of thriving in a close-knit, cross-functional team environment, with effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Must be a US citizen or permanent resident legally authorized to work in the US and able to pass a complete background check and drug screening.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
Desirable Skills:
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Basic electrical knowledge or wiring experience is preferred.
- Experience in cutting, stripping, tinning, and crimping cables and harnesses is advantageous.
- Prior experience with Bills of Materials (BOMs) and computerized MRP or ERP systems.
- Experience with x-ray technology is a plus.
- Knowledge of ISO and/or NQA-1 quality standards and procedures.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Regularly required to stand for extended periods, and to sit, walk, bend, and work within an industrial environment.
- Must be able to use hands for handling, feeling, and operating tools and equipment.
- Ability to operate a forklift and other material handling equipment safely after training.
- Daily responsibilities may involve lifting and moving materials up to 50 pounds independently; heavier items with assistance.
- Capable of working at heights with appropriate safety equipment and using ladders safely.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Expected to communicate effectively in person, on the phone, and via electronic devices on a regular basis.
- Willingness to travel domestically as required.
- Able to perform essential job functions consistently and safely.
