The City of West Hollywood is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to join the West Hollywood Care Team as a Peer Support Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing mobile support services to community members experiencing a behavioral health crisis and other unmet social service needs.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide stabilization interventions and advocate for client voice and choice in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of treatment, rehabilitation, and support services.
- Offer consultation to consumers regarding community resources, crisis intervention, and available community services, including housing, mental health services, medical treatment, and substance abuse services.
- Collaborate with the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (LACDMH) network of Field Intervention Teams (FIT) to integrate services and ensure a comprehensive response to community needs.
- Utilize lived experience and expertise in the recovery process, symptom management, and consumer persistence to benefit the team and consumers.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent degree.
- Be self-identified as having experience with the process of recovery from a mental illness or substance use disorder, either as a consumer of these services or as the parent, caregiver, or family member of a consumer.
- Be willing to share their lived experience and have a strong dedication to recovery.
- Agree, in writing, to adhere to the Code of Ethics.
- Certification in peer support is preferred, but not required.
The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, providing services in private homes, apartments, condo units, schools, workplaces, and other community-based locations. The ability to physically manage and/or de-escalate consumers/residents is essential, as is the ability to use agency vehicles with appropriate insurance for transporting consumers.
What We Offer:- A competitive hourly rate of $32.00 - $32.93, based on previous work experience and educational background.
