Job Summary

T. Rowe Price is seeking a highly skilled Data Management Specialist to support the Data Stewardship team within Individual Investor (II). This role plays a crucial part in supporting over $200B in client assets and serving 1.3M investors. The successful candidate will address both production and project-related data needs tied to operational and analytical data platforms, which are foundational for transaction and client data management.

The Data Management Specialist will conduct data management and reporting, applying full lifecycle data analysis to gather, synthesize, and interpret information from a wide variety of sources. They will provide actionable insights for senior team members and managers and advocate for data standards to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and reliability of data across the organization. Participation in data governance discussions is a key responsibility, with potential impact beyond the immediate team.

The Specialist will collaborate with business and technical partners, leveraging strong communication skills to gather requirements and enable user stories within an Agile environment. They will ensure data integrity and manage updates to systems, contributing to both operational and project-focused data solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with peers in the business on various defined and ad hoc data and reporting requests. Ensure deliverables are completed in a timely manner that meets the business needs with a mindset to minimize redundancy and improve efficiency.
  2. Integrate data across various data sources and data warehouses or databases. Review and interpret data for consistency, accuracy, trends, and leading indicators. Summarize findings and data protection/privacy issues for review with more experienced professionals and management.
  3. Conduct processes for the creation, consumption, assimilation, and/or destruction of data. Ensure adherence to quality controls and governance rules. Ensure project specifications are in line with data management standards in terms of data and reporting needs and is accountable for related project goals.
  4. Participate in the development and testing of systems. Conduct investigation, analysis, and evaluation to determine enhancement feasibility and implications for data accuracy. Compile reports for review by more senior professionals.
  5. Curate data and conduct governance activities, contributing to the development of technical workflows, operational data management reports and metrics, enhancing existing models, and building frameworks and processes. Train junior professionals and support staff to understand the data.
  6. Examine and control changes in complex data sets. Contribute to the implementation and execution of data quality and maintenance programs in alignment with T. Rowe Price policies and procedures. Adhere to and champion best practices for the business.

Requirements:

Required:

  1. Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  2. 2+ years of total relevant work experience.

Preferred:

  1. Demonstrated ability to complete standard refinement activities within an Agile product team, including defining and writing clear, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria.
  2. Strong knowledge of database models, relational databases, and related concepts.
  3. Proficiency in SQL and/or related data extraction, blending, and review tools (e.g., DBeaver, MS Office).
  4. Proven ability to collect, organize, and summarize complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  6. Experience developing documentation, process mapping, and requirement definitions that are easily understood by business users.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to analyze and organize large amounts of data with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  8. Ability to understand end-to-end data flows and data dependencies, ensuring business outcomes are achieved.
  9. Effective at managing multiple, sometimes competing, priorities while being considerate of team objectives and deadlines.
  10. Self-directed and results-oriented, with a demonstrated ability to take initiative and deliver high-quality work on time.

FINRA Requirements

FINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role.

Work Flexibility

This role is eligible for hybrid work, with up to two days per week from home.

Base salary ranges:

$91,500.00 - $156,500.00 for the location of: California, New York
$81,000.00 - $138,000.00 for the location of: Washington, D.C
$73,000.00 - $125,000.00 for the location of: Colorado, Maryland, Washington and all other US locations

Placement within the range provided above is based on the individual's relevant experience and skills for the role. Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon company and individual performance.
