Metal Fabrication Specialist

Position Summary: The Metal Fabrication Specialist plays a crucial role in the production process, ensuring that all welding and fabrication tasks are executed with precision and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Timely reporting to the designated department.
• Conducting pre-shift inspections to ensure equipment readiness.
• Investigating and analyzing mechanical issues, implementing effective solutions.
• Assessing operational problems with plant equipment and making necessary adjustments to optimize production and quality.
• Collaborating with the shift foreman to review production schedules and performing repairs and preventive maintenance as needed.
• Testing equipment to confirm proper functionality.
• Assisting colleagues in welding, brazing, and thermal cutting tasks.
• Manually moving workpieces, tools, and supplies, ensuring an organized workspace.
• Lifting and positioning workpieces using appropriate tools and techniques.
• Providing instruction and guidance to trainees as directed by the shift foreman.
• Coordinating with project managers and documentation teams to enhance fabrication strategies.
• Conducting material take-offs and submitting purchase requests for new projects.
• Producing sample parts and prototypes to validate fabrication methods before full-scale production.
• Designing tools and jigs to streamline the production process.
• Assembling wiring and electrical components in accordance with safety standards.
• Training and supervising apprentice fabricators assigned to projects.
• Maintaining effective communication with customers and team members.
• Completing additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.

Safety and Compliance:

• Staying updated on factory technical bulletins and participating in relevant training sessions.
• Adhering to safety protocols and wearing appropriate safety gear.
• Performing routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment, including inspections and fluid checks.
• Ensuring a drug-free workplace at all times.

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience: Minimum of 8 years in fabrication and maintenance welding.
• Skills: Basic literacy in reading, writing, and math; ability to operate motor vehicles; effective verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in using mechanical hand tools; attention to detail; intermediate computer skills.
• Training: Certification in electrician journeyman equivalent, welding of aluminum and steel, and safe practices with shop equipment.
• Tools: A complete set of hand tools commonly used in metal fabrication.
