Job Summary

A Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized, critical care to critically ill or injured pediatric patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide intensive, specialized care to pediatric patients with life-threatening conditions, including respiratory failure, organ failure, and postoperative complications.
  • Monitor and assess patients' critical conditions, including vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and respiratory status, using advanced monitoring equipment.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and interventions specific to critically ill pediatric patients, including mechanical ventilation, IV therapies, and pain management.
  • Collaborate with intensivists, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Perform advanced procedures such as intubation, central line placement, and hemodynamic monitoring.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on complex medical conditions, treatment plans, and strategies for care at home.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and families coping with acute and life-threatening illnesses.
  • Maintain accurate, thorough documentation of patient assessments, treatments, and outcomes, adhering to clinical standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and respond to complications, such as respiratory distress, sepsis, and hemodynamic instability, ensuring timely interventions.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted.
  • Licensure:
    • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • Certification:
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required.
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience in pediatric critical care, emergency room, or pediatric intensive care
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 per year, based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours of work per week.
